The NEBOSH International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals is based on international standards and best practice and builds on the knowledge gained at NEBOSH Certificate level. Whilst the knowledge gained from studying the NEBOSH Certificate is not repeated it is required to successfully complete the assessments. The qualification is made up of 3 units which must be completed within five years:
Unit ID1: Know – Workplace Health and Safety Principles (International)- 189 Hours including 60 hours for the assessment

Unit ID2: Do – Controlling Workplace Health Issues (International)- 145 Hours including 40 hours for the assessment

Unit ID3: Do – Controlling Workplace Safety Issues (International) – 135 Hours including 40 hours for the assessment
This unit covers the following topics:
• Safe working environment; Confined spaces; Fire and explosion, Fire; Dangerous substances; Work equipment and machinery maintenance; Work equipment; Machinery; Mobile work equipment / Lifting equipment; Electricity; Construction / Work at height / Demolition / Excavation; Workplace transport / Work-related driving.
Assessment:
Assessments will be available twice a year for each unit, with around a month allowed to complete the assignment and return them to NEBOSH.
Study Mode NEBOSH International Health & Safety Diploma eLearning
The qualification requires a minimum of 185 taught hours plus 144 recommended self-study hours and 140 assessment hours.
There are no mandatory qualification entry requirements but it is strongly recommended learners have undertaken the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. The syllabus assumes that learners will have this level of prior learning.
It is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
Assessment Results
You will receive your results 50 working days after the submission date for your assessment. A unit certificate will be issued 20 working days after the notification date for each successful unit.
Once you have passed all three unit assessments (ID1/ID2/ID3) your combined percentage mark will give your overall grade for the qualification (Distinction/Credit/Pass).

There are two cost components which include the course fees and the exam registration and assessment fees, as expounded below.
Course Fees
The NEBOSH International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals is offered through eLearning at USD 2,130 for the Course Fees.
The assessment is undertaken at home and in your workplace so there is no requirement to attend an exam centre. NEBOSH will issue the assessments twice a year for each unit which you will need to complete and return to them. For Unit ID1 NEBOSH are estimating it will take 60 hours to complete and are allowing 6 weeks for Learners to complete and submit the assignment.
For ID2 & ID3 NEBOSH are estimating it will take 40 hours to complete and are allowing 4 weeks.
• Units ID1 is assessed by an assignment (in four parts – simulations, workplace based activities, reflective tasks and a research project). Part of the assessment will require learners to undertake some workplace-based activities so need to ensure that they select a suitable workplace/organisation.
• Units ID2 & ID3 will be assessed by a case study (simulation only)

NEBOSH advises that it will take approximately 469 hours to complete the course and assessments, see below for a more detailed breakdown.
The assessments are structured so that it is possible to complete the course in 12 months, but given other demands on most people’s time we would expect 18 to 30 months to successfully complete.
While it is not required to start with unit ID1, we would recommend completing this unit first, as it will provide you with knowledge that is needed to complete the unit 2 & 3 assessments.

Virtual Instructor Led is delivered in real time through Zoom and is very similar to a classroom course. The tutor will deliver the course with breaks to allow time for group work, exercises, and private study.

Irrespective of the mode of study you choose, we do provide the complete study text which you can download and study off line thus giving you the option of how you study the course.
This NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree on the National Qualification Framework. The NEBOSH International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Accreditation at SCQF Level 10 with 48 SCQF credit points.
SCQF Level 10 is comparable to RQF/CQFW Level 6 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
You will be able to retake the assessments, but you will need to pay the NEBOSH assessment fee again along with a small administration fee.
